Future Development

As the network increases in size, we are including a variety of means of making it more robust and reducing the likelihood of interruption of service.  Currently there is only one route between a user and their allocated broadband source. We are planning to add additional links so that if one fails an alternative is available. We also plan to upgrade the transmitters between the broadband sources and the APs.

We are investing in equipment to balance the load between broadband sources. Instead of using just one broadband source, several will be available and the one with most available capacity at any time will be automatically used.

We are putting in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) at key locations to avoid loss of service from short power cuts which occasionally cause problems.

We are hoping to cooperate with a similar network at Dolanog to provide load balancing or emergency broadband access for both network.
